As a result of a coordinated police operation working alongside colleagues from HM Prison Service, Graham Gomm has been arrested and returned to prison.
Police officers from across the Met worked together after being alerted on July 18 to Graham Gomm’s escape from the custody of HMP Wormwood Scrubs while he was at Hammersmith Hospital.
As a result of a proactive operation, officers arrested Gomm in Putney at around 8:30 a.m. on July 20.
An investigation will continue into Mr Gomm escaping lawful custody.
Earlier, detectives were working to find a man who had escaped custody at HMP Wormwood Scrubs after he had been taken to the hospital.
Graham Gomm, 63, was taken to Hammersmith Hospital by prison staff yesterday after being unwell. He had been on remand for burglary offences.
Police were alerted at around 1:18 a.m. on Thursday, July 18, that Gomm had escaped. He was last seen wearing a grey T-shirt and grey tracksuit.
Officers conducted searches, worked closely with partners, conducted CCTV enquiries, and visited several addresses linked to Gomm.
Detectives are also concerned for Gomm’s welfare as he was undergoing medical care before he escaped. There is nothing to suggest that Gomm is a threat to the public.
