A man will appear in court tomorrow in relation to the attack on Mussie Imnetu in the vicinity of Notting Hill Carnival on Monday.
Omar Wilson, 31, of Napier Road, Leytonstone, was arrested in the early hours of Wednesday morning on suspicion of attempted murder.
On Thursday, he was charged with causing grievous bodily harm (GBH) with intent and was remanded to appear at Westminster Magistrates’ Court on Friday, 30 August.
At 11:22 p.m. on Monday, officers who were deployed as part of the Notting Hill Carnival policing operation became aware of a man who was unconscious with a head injury in Queensway, W2. They provided emergency first aid until paramedics arrived.
The man, later identified as 41-year-old Mussie, who was visiting the UK from Dubai, was taken to a west London hospital where he remains in a critical condition.
Detectives from the Met’s Specialist Crime Command appealed for anyone with information about the incident or Mussie’s movements earlier in the day to come forward.
